As a Mexican American And being surrounded by the Mexican culture, food, language, it gives me so much pride and happiness seeing the world cup. Mexico is bringing that hope that we can do it! We have officially moved on to the round of 16 and that game was crazy!!!! I was completely certain that we would win but there were still those nerves that we could possibly lose to Ecuador. I went to this Mexican restaurant with my family and the vibes were amazing! the screams and jumping when we scored those 2 goals were unforgettable. During half time we went outside because they also had outside seating to watch the game and you really see the Mexican spirit at that time, everyone dancing, chanting, and throwing others in the air also Dr, Simi came out and we played limbo with him! That sight just makes you step back and thank God that you were born Mexican, I’m sure everyone is happy with where they came from and each country and culture has their own beauty but being Mexican hits different. It pains me a bit that I will never be fully Mexican:( I’ve visited Mexico 4 times, the first 2 in Cancun and other neighboring parts and then the last 2 in more of the local parts.

Seeing the beautiful parts of Mexico and the kindness of the people is so amazing and trying the authentic flavors and norms they have honestly makes me cry. In Mexico you are guaranteed a good time and amazing memories, everyone is so kind and will catch the vibes! The US has its own beauty and I’m grateful for the sacrifices my parents made for me and my siblings to give us a better life, but I just feel like I know have a limit of how Hispanic I can be. Thankfully I can speak pretty good and I’m learning how to dance cumbia and salsa (Thank goodness I was born with rhythm). And If I ever have kids, I will make sure they know their roots and are very connected to our culture. I guess this post is just me reflecting on Mexico as a whole. This is the first World cup I am paying attention to and gosh best decision ever, The mexico team is doing amazing and if we keep up this amazing streak and energy who knows……..
